Administrative Assistant

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's most effective animal advocacy organization, is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Campaigns department.  The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for the department. 

This position will be responsible for:

  • Providing administrative support including responding to routine email, mail, and telephone correspondence/inquiries; assisting staff with large print jobs, bulk mailings, shipping needs, and maintaining office supplies and equipment, and assisting staff with general office needs;
  • Assisting with internal and external departmental communication including mailings, social media postings, and responding to inquiries from members and the public via email, phone, and social media.
  • Coordinating major projects and events including research, outreach, event planning, booking travel for guests and consultants, and other specialized projects for the different campaigns; will assist with scheduling of assorted special events as needed.
  • Liaising both internally and externally to create and manage campaign materials, section literature, and inventory on both the production and fulfillment side.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; College degree preferred;
  • Minimum one year work experience in an office environment/administrative setting required;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of animal issues preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor;
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize the workload and be able to multi-task;
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
