Manager, Digital Marketing

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Manager, Digital Marketing for the Companion Animals department. This position will manage and oversee all marketing and communications to the animal welfare audience to grow audience, awareness, and advertising opportunities.

This position will be responsible for

  • Overseeing all editorial aspects of animalsheltering.org and managing successful day-to-day operations of all digital entities;
  • Monitoring and sharing analytics on campaign performance;
  • Collaborating with leaders of all companion animal programs HSUS departments as required to develop relevant content and ensure cohesive messaging to animal welfare audience;
  • Coordinating cross-promotional content with Senior Marketing Communications Manager and Education and Events Manager for unified messaging to both animal welfare audience and general HSUS public audience;
  • Managing email marketing campaigns to animal welfare audience and grow targeted marketing email lists;
  • Implementing and testing strategy effectiveness to improve user engagement;
  • Providing supervision of the Web Specialist position and Digital Marketing intern;
  • Managing online advertising on digital platforms;
  • Engaging and growing animal welfare audience on social media platforms;
  • Writing, researching, and editing web content and other publications as needed;
  • Participating voluntarily in hands-on animal care situations, i.e. assisting a local animal welfare organization with a large-scale operation, interning with ASC program evaluation, etc.;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital media, journalism or related field required;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in digital marketing management and social media;
  • Two years of management experience strongly desired;
  • Strong knowledge of web design programs such as Dreamweaver and HTML required;
  • Strong knowledge of website content management system required.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and other desktop publishing software preferred;
  • Advanced knowledge in analytics and reporting required;
  • Highly-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, team player who can multitask effectively;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including writing, editing, research and content development skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and teams to create cohesive messaging on various platforms;
  • Strong knowledge of social media and results-driven online advertising;
  • Strong desire to work on behalf of companion animals preferred.
