Our health and safety policy

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and Humane Society International (HSI) hold the health and safety of our Humane Journey travelers, partners and staff as top priority when hosting Humane Journey trips. All attendees must agree to follow health and safety protocols set by governing bodies with jurisdiction over the trip location, including local, state, federal, provincial and/or other in-country guidance and law in place at the time of the trip.

To protect the health of all attendees, staff and animals, all guests must be asymptomatic throughout the journey. In the event a guest or staff member reports symptoms of COVID-19, HSUS/HSI staff will ask the traveler to consult with a licensed healthcare provider (LHP) and/or take a COVID-19 test to determine next steps. Our staff will follow the advice of the LHP and established protocols to reduce risk of exposure to other guests and staff. This may include separating the individual experiencing symptoms from the rest of the group.

We ask that travelers monitor their health and not attend if they are unwell. We strongly encourage all event participants to be up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations, including all primary series doses and boosters, before the start of their travel.
