Statement on Florida vote to advance greyhound amendment

Statement by Kate MacFall, Florida State Director for The Humane Society of the United States, on vote to advance greyhound amendment:

“Florida made a great step today toward giving voters the opportunity to end a cruel and antiquated practice that has no place in today’s society.

We will work with Floridians across the state to do the right thing and pass this Constitutional amendment to end greyhound racing – we believe that the voters will do what the Legislature simply hasn’t all these years, which is stop the pointless and inhumane exercise that is greyhound racing.  We thank Constitutional Revision Commission members Tom Lee and Don Gaetz for their leadership in sponsoring this Constitutional amendment to stop this form of animal cruelty.”
